[1] ADS, IHi. Beckwith had studied in the Danville office of Lincoln and Ward H. Lamon. After his admission to the bar he remained in the office until 1859, when he succeeded to the practice. George W. Lawrence has not been positively identified, but a George W. Lawrence, age 28, Macoupin County, Illinois, is listed in the U.S. Census of 1850.
