To Jonathan K. Cooper and Hugh W. Reynolds
Gentlemen May 28. 1857
Your letter of the 25th. to G. W. Lowry, has been handed me to answer. I brought the suit of Eshrick, Black & Co. vs Tobias [,] Hittle & Co. the clerk tells me the process has been served in time, and I suppose a judgment will be had at the ensuing June Term, unless the defendants appear and make a case for a continuance, of the probability of which last, I know nothing. Yours truly
ALS, InFtwL. Jonathan K. Cooper and Hugh W. Reynolds were law partners at Peoria, Illinois.
George W. Lowry, clerk of the U.S. Circuit Court.
Filed May 16, judgment obtained June 3, in the U.S. Circuit Court. Joseph Eshrick, John S. Black, and Robert T. Black were merchants at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; James Tobias, William Hittle, and Jonathan Myers were the Illinois defendants.
