This Indenture made this twelfth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fiftyone, by and between Abraham Lincoln and Mary Lincoln, his wife, of the City of Springfield, county of Sangamon, and State of Illinois, party of the first part, and John D. Johnston, of the county of Coles and State aforesaid, party of the second part, Witnesseth:

That the said party of the first part, for, and in consideration of the sum of one dollar to them in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have remised, released, and forever quit claimed, and by these presents do remise, release, and forever quitclaim to, and in favor of the said party of the second part, his heirs and assigns forever, all the right → , title, interest and estate, which the said party of the first part have in and to the North West quarter of the South East quarter; and the North East quarter of the South West quarter, both of Section Twentyone, in Township Eleven North, of Range Nine East of the Third Principal Meridian, situatedPage  109 in the said county of Coles, and together containing eighty acres more or less---the interest of the said party of the first part in and to said lands, being that derived as sole heir at law of the late Thomas Lincoln, now deceased, and subject to the right of Dower of Sarah Lincoln, widow of the said Thomas Lincoln deceased.

To have and to hold to the said party of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns forever, the interest aforesaid, in and to the above described lands, together with all and singular the previleges and appurtenances thereunto belonging.

In testimony whereof the said party of the first part have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
