Annotation

[1]   AD, I-Ar. The original bill is in Lincoln's handwriting except for bracketed passages. It was introduced by John T. Stuart from the committee on petitions to which had been referred the petition of sundry citizens of Peoria and Putnam counties, praying the establishment of a state road therein named. Introduced on January 12, the bill was passed on January 16. It appears in Laws of Illinois, 1835, pp. 112-13, with but minor changes, chiefly in punctuation.

[2]   This wording was substituted for Lincoln's ``and required.''
