Annotation

[1]   AD, I-Ar. As chairman of the select committee to which the petition of the Springfield mechanics asking incorporation had been referred, Lincoln introduced the bill, but did not write any part except the title and amendment. The men who are listed in Lincoln's amendment as incorporators all signed the petition under consideration. The bill passed both houses and may be found in Laws of Illinois, 1839-1840, pp. 74-75.
