Prize for best book in History and Computing

The executive board of the American Association for History and Computing wishes to announce its first annual book prize awarded for the best book on any subject relevant to history and computing published in 1998. Submissions must include a cover letter explaining the book's merits and a supporting letter from a scholar in the field. Nominations for the book prize are encouraged from publishers, scholars, and authors. Nominees will be asked to provide copies (five) for peer review. The AAHC Book Prize will be announced during the 1999 annual meeting of the AAHC to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, April 23-25, 1999.

In conjunction with the first annual book prize awarded by the AAHC the Executive Board also wishes to announce its first annual award for best multimedia web site for 1998. The AAHC encourages the production of useful and reliable multimedia materials and related web sites as a medium for serious contributions to the discipline. Software designers, CD-ROM creators, and Webmeisters are encouraged to submit their URLs for for consideration for peer review. The AAHC Multimedia Award will be announced during the 1999 annual meeting of the AAHC to be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, April 23-25, 1999.

The deadline for all nominations is March 1, 1999.
