The above lines were written by my mother, Emma A. Fox. '21 Bagley Avenue' is now 139 Bagley Ave., location of Automobile Club. Maurice W. Fox." Water damage on mat; corner broken.

    View of wooden-frame house decorated with bunting, ribbons, American flag, canopy and rosettes. On house facade is a large "G", portrait of Grant, and a sign reading: "His home 1850." Printed on front: "The residence of the late Gen. U.S. Grant, in 1849-50 where he first 'kept house', no. 253 Fort Street East, Detroit, Mich., draped in his memory by his Veteran comrades of the War of 1861; photo by the Detroit Viewing Co."
