maille (n.) Also mail(e, male, meile.

(a) A small metal ring or plate used for making chain armor; (b) a mesh of such rings or a series of such plates overlapped, chain mail; double ~, mail thickly woven with no visible interstices; standard of ~, a collaret of mail; (c) mail armor; a piece of mail armor; ~ and plate, ~ or plates, plate and (or, ne) ~; under ~, in armor; (d) pl. mail armor.
