Biographical / Historical:

The United States War with Mexico (or Mexican-American War, or Mexican War) was a conflict between the United States and Mexico, fought between April 25, 1846, and February 2, 1848. In 1848, the two countries signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, ending hostilities and granting a large amount of land, including present-day California, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, and parts of Texas and other states, to the United States.
