Collection Scope and Content Note

This collection is made up of 16 letters that Stanton A. Mason wrote to his parents, Sterne A. and Nancy Sage Mason of Windsor, New York, while attending the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, in the early 1870s. He wrote about many aspects of life at the academy, including camping trips, drills, academics, and his finances. He occasionally mentioned his demerits, class standing, examinations, and courses.
