James Moncrieff papers 1710-1894 (bulk 1780-1804)
Hilon Adelbert Parker was born in Jefferson County, New York, on December 30, 1841, the son of Alpheus Parker and Lucinda Hitchcock. He served with the 10th New York Heavy Artillery Regiment in the Civil War and mustered out as first lieutenant. Hilon A. Parker became a successful railroad engineer and administrator in Iowa and in Chicago, Illinois; he spent most of his career with the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway Co. He married Mary Cunningham on May 25, 1871, and had one daughter, Florence. Following Mary's death in January 1892, Parker married Grace Rowley. Hilon A. Parker died in Chicago on May 7, 1911.
