John C. Love was born in Jackson County, Michigan. He enlisted in the Michigan Infantry, Company C. on September 6, 1861. Later, Love served in the 19th Mich. Infantry. He participated in Sherman’s march through Georgia and engagements in Kentucky and Tennessee. On October 14, 1864 he was discharged and returned to Napoleon, Michigan. Love married Harriet Grosvenor on May 7, 1867. Together they had six children. On May 9, 1877 Love died of malarial fever. (This information is from the collection.)
