History

Biography:

Edwin S. Killmaster was born on December 13, 1891, the son of John Killmaster. On February 6, 1920, he married Miss Elizabeth Collins in Bay City, Michigan, with whom he had a son, George. George attended Kiskiminetas Springs School in Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, in the early 1940s. Killmaster worked as an attorney in Harrisville, Michigan. He was a cousin of Henry K. Gustin, whose papers are also at the Clarke. Killmaster served as the executor of Gustin’s estate when he died. Killmaster died in December 1983. His last known address was Midland, Michigan. (Birth and death dates are from the Social Security Death Index, additional information is from the collection.)

There was a Killmaster, Michigan, named for lumberman John H. Killmaster, who may have been Edwin’s father, and who was appointed as the first postmaster there on December 15, 1885. (This information is from Michigan place names.)
