Organizational History:

The Council was established in 1953 in Mount Pleasant (Mich.) to promote public safety in industry, farms,homes, lakes, on streets, and in other public places. Mrs. (Wilson S.) Mildred V. Dunbar (1907-1995) served as chair of the Council, 1953-1957, and publicity corresponding secretary, 1959-1977. Mildred compiled the collection during her years of service on the Council (This information is from the collection.)
