Biography:

James H. Hageman earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California-Los Angeles, a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Illinois, and an Intermediate B.Sc. from the University of Bristol (U.K.). He collaborated to establish a research park administrative structure, aided in the recruitment of companies to the park, and served on the Board of Directors of the Central Michigan University (CMU) Research Corporation. In 2007 Hageman served as the Program Director for a $2.7 million Army Research Lab grant to CMU. He also served as the Head of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Director of the Graduate Program in Molecular Biology at New Mexico State University. Hageman held tenured appointment as Professor of Chemistry at CMU and a postdoctoral fellowship in Microbial Genetics at Yale University.

In July 2006 Hageman left CMU after six years as the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and the Vice Provost for Research to accept a position as Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Studies at the University of Colorado at Denver. (This information is from a newspaper article from the University of Colorado, July 2006, viewed online on May 16, 2007. A copy of the article is in the Biographical Materials folder.)
