Organizational History:

The Central Michigan University (CMU) Creative Arts Gallery began as the Creative Arts room on the lower level of the Bovee University Center in 1966. Its purpose was to house traveling exhibits of art form the U.S. and abroad, as well as display the art of CMU students, and various Mount Pleasant and Michigan artists. It also hosted an annual art sale and juried student art exhibit. The exhibits covered a wide variety of art in various formats. Mrs. Madeline Csendes was the first director. The Gallery existed until May 1993, when it was discontinued by the University.
