Michael Paul Church (1907- ) was a Michigan artist and photographer. He worked for over 30 years as the Director of Cultural Activities for the Extension Service at the University of Michigan. In this capacity he was known as thee “Evangelist of Art” for “preaching” and pushing people to experience and participate in the arts. Four governors appointed him to serve on the Michigan Council for the Arts. In 1958, Church was awarded the Gold Medal of the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts and Letters. With his wife, Mary, he lived in Holmes Beach, Michigan, in 1981.
