History

Organizational History:

The Central Michigan University (CMU) Faculty Association (FA) formed into the union bargaining unit fro CMU professors in 1967 and worked extensively on developing a contract in 1970. Prior to that, the FA existed but had no bargaining power. For documentation of the unionization process of the CMU faculty see the Michigan Legislature Senate Special Committee on Faculty-Administration Relations collection, which is also housed in the Clarke Historical Library. (This information is from the collection.)
