History

Biography:

In 1966, a committee composed of Central Michigan University (CMU) faculty, staff, students, and alumni met to brainstorm on ideas for the 75th anniversary of the University. Their ideas were fully developed and realized by a 75th Anniversary Advisory Committee, which planned major events, publications, re-dedications of campus buildings, presentations, and a historical marker. Another committee, the CMU 75th Anniversary Awards Screening Committee, reviewed nominations of people who had significantly contributed in some manner to CMU over the years, selected those who were to be honored, and organized a presentation ceremony and plaque for each honoree. The committees also sponsored a history of CMU, which was compiled by Dr. Rolland H. Maybee, a history professor at CMU.
