Marion Co Marion County (Tenn.) Ala. on the
march September, THURSDAY, 10. 1863. On Alabamas Alabama soil we tread = dusty
& sandy Halted in Stephenson Stevenson (Ala.) awhile where Rebs built fort & stockades & where
theMemphis & Charlston,
Nashville & Chattanooga R.R cross=X We saw a lot of Rebel prisoners
and deserters. At 2 P.M we reached Tennessee's Tennessee River clear waters, dry, dusty hungry &
tired, but in an hour all was right and we were in and bathing. Picket without
supper I lost my oil cloth
