General Motors Corporation [series]

The largest series in the collection relates to Stempel's career with General Motors. This series has been further divided by phases or career moves made by Stempel. These include Various Early Responsibilities (1965-1980); President and Chief Operating Officer (1987-1990); Chairman / Chief Executive Officer (1990-1992); and Later Responsibilities (1992-1999). In addition, there are three subseries, one consisting of the depositions made by Stempel as part of litigation involving General Motors. The other two subseries are a collection of General Motors publications and files of RCS schedules and itineraries. Of interest are files relating to the development of the Toronado and to the company's response to issues of automotive emissions in the 1970s.
