Conservation Status
The top and bottom margins of P.Mich 879 are intact; the right margin has been lost, but the partially preserved column vi was the last, both because it stops halfway down the page and because the nmaes in col. vi correspond to thoe nams in P.Pric. I 14, col. v, which are found just before the final total at v. 22 (see below, p. 234). The traces of the least one more column can be seen at the left margin.
Palaeographic Description
The papyrus was written by the same scribe who wote P.Pric. I 4, P.Corn 24 and P.Ryl. IV 595.
Epsilons and alphas are similar espacially before tau and mu. The individual letters in this particular hand are larger and usually easier to read than those in the hand which produced the day-books, P.Pric. I 1-6. At the same time , they are somewhat smaller and less flamboyant than the hand which produced P.Princ. I 7 and P.Mich.inv. 885 verso (ined.) Noticeable the way the scribe writes the names "Petesouchos" and "Petosiris".
