Day by day register of abstracts of the contracts recorded at the record-office (grapheion) of Tebtynis during the four last months of the 2nd year of the Emperor Claudius. - Col. IV, abstract 4 records a (demotic) alimentary contract, registered on May 21, 42 A.D. (see also Verso, col. III, 11); this so-called alimentary contract is in reality a property settlement entered into by persons already united in marriage, fixing the sum which the husband was obliged to pay to his wife in case of his divorcing her and describing the real properties which would become sureties for the payment of this sum

Translation
An alimentary contract for money of the value of 11 pieces of gold and the contract of surrender and preliminary sale, concerning the half-share belonging to me of a house helf jointly and undivided in Tali, in the so-called Great Thoerion.
And the dowry is 60 drachmai in silver, and as parapherna an armlet of silver of a weight of 4 drachmai of uncoined metal.
And Onnophris shares equally, and with equal right, with the children, whom we may have by one another, in the aforesaid half-share of a house.
Which contract Patynis, son of Petesouchos, his mother being Soueris, about 56 years old, with a scar on the left cheek, makes with Tapnebtynis, daughter of Horos, her mother being Taeus, about 50 years old, with a scar on the right forearm.
Signatory: Patynis, about 60 years old, with a scar on the left instep.
