Conservation Status
The present text consists of two fragments from a single folio of a papyrus codex. Parts of the left and right margins remain, but both pieces are broken off at the top and bottom. Though not contiguous, the two fragments clearly come from the same portion of the leaf. This is shown by the contour of the pieces: the sheet was folded vertically, then broken, and the damaged area in the margin of the first fragment mirrors that in the margin of the second. It should also be noted that a comparison with the text in Horner and Thompson allows us to calculate that an average of 20 lines is lost between Fr. 1 R and Fr. 2 R, between Fr. 2 R and Fr. 2 V, and between Fr. 2 R and Fr. 1 V. Since the same amount of material is missing between the fragments, it follows that they occupied the same relative position on the sheet. We are dealing with a bicolumnar codex, with Fragment 1 comprising Col. i R and Col. ii V, and Fragment 2 Col. ii R and Col. i V.
Palaeographic Description
On the basis of the hand, the text should probably be assigned to the sixth or seventh century A.D. Though considerably less graceful, it bears a certain resemblance to Cramer, Palaeographie no. 16 (VIth/VIIth century A.D.).
