- Description
- Serengeti Plains, Ngorongoro Crater. Wildebeest calf killed and consumed by a single hyena. Hyena was having a field day killing calves, and abandoned carcass in unusually complete condition. More interestingly, the brain has been consumed (from the top as is typical for neonates) before and to the exclusion of the (unnutritious) marrow bones, reversing the pattern seen for adults who have fat rich marrow and hard, horned heads.
